Best vacation rental ever!

I can't say enough about this vacation unit! The owners thought of everything. Sleep number beds, wonderfully equipped kitchen, very nice furniture, even hot chocolate mix to sip on and throw blankets for sitting on the porch swing watching the deer on the property. Owners met us in the driveway and helped carry suitcases in. The property is just off the main road but feels like out in the woods. Highly recommend this property!! It was perfect!

 Such a lovely stay in a great cottage with very friendly hosts. They thought of everything in terms of what a guest might need or want. Went above and beyond to help celebrate a birthday. Highly recommend.

We have 2 young children ages 2 and 4 and we stayed for a long weekend. The 2 bedroom apartment is beautiful! They actually built it themselves and everything feels brand new! It was very clean and they even had a play yard we used for my youngest to sleep in. They had coffee or tea available and even homemade hot chocolate! We used the fire pit to let the kids have their first experience with s’mores and they thought it was great. You can see deer every day since they get fed by the owners. My kids got a kick out of helping feed them. I enjoyed the woods being right at our doorstep and my kids enjoyed the opportunity to explore. My husband got a kick out of the heated toilet seats and he never wanted to part with them! We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning!

 We want to thank you for an absolutely wonderful stay in your lovely place. We appreciated everything about it; so nicely appointed, comfortable, convenient and quiet and restful. I even took advantage of your “cabinet of curiosities “ (bookshelf filled with games, toys, books, local history, and birdwatching material!) 😉😊 Lovely, so nice - would like to come back sometime and explore more. This was our first time in Show Low/ Pinetop and we really liked it.

Lovely place in the pines

The unit was lovely and well appointed with everything we could need or want. I especially appreciated boxes of kleenex in each area! I bring my own on trips usually but didn't need them here. It is close to restaurants and shopping but still feels like the woods with deer and birds available for watching from the porch. Would definitely stay here again.

A lttlie slice of heaven

Everything about this rental is perfect, so clean and comfy! The hosts are so friendly and nearby if needed. I would highly recommend if you want a beautiful get away from the city.

What a nice stay!

John and Jennifer have a terrific apartment and we're wonderful hosts. It was nice seeing bluejays, woodpeckers and deer from the porch during our stay. All the amenities we're perfect. Can't wait to make another reservation with them in the future for this property.

An Amazing Find

We had a wonderful stay at the Wodpecker Barn. The photos do not do justice to how well-appointed & beautiful this property is. The owners, Jennifer & John, are such welcoming, hospitable & cordial hosts. They want you to feel as if you are part of the family & use the home as your own. They contacted us prior to our stay to inquire we had any special needs. It has everything you could possibly need, in fact, there so many amenities not typically found in rentals. As an added bonus, deer are frequent visitors. We look forward to returning to this special place. Our thanks, M & L

Wowtacular

Amazing property and owners! Property had everything and more! Owners went above and beyond to make us feel at home! A must stay…you won’t be disappointed!

 FIVE STARS! I loved my stay at the Woodpecker Barn. John and Jennifer thought of everything to make my stay cozy and comfortable. The barn was very clean and filled with games, books, movies, and amenities that made for a restful weekend. They were warm and welcoming hosts, and Jennifer even checked in with me in advance of my stay to let me know about expected snow. The property is a few miles from town, so it was quiet and peaceful, the perfect getaway. I will definitely be back! 

Great Barn Apartment

The host’s Jennifer and Jon were super nice and very welcoming. The apartment was very nice and filled with lots of amenities even extras like coffee and breakfast bars. Heated toilet seats A plus. It snowed pretty much the entire stay. Everyday Jon and Jennifer would come out and clear the snow off the driveway and the stairs leading to the front door I’m definitely going to rent again when I come to visit my family. I definitely would recommend you stay here! Very close to shops and restaurants.

 The Woodpecker Barn definitely exceeded our expectations! Everything was absolutely perfect! They messaged us days before arrival to meet and provide directions. On our way we got lost and they helped guide us back to the main road. Upon arrival they greeted us and ensured we had all we needed. They provided so much that we definitely overpacked...towels, linens, blankets (heated ones also), hygiene items, everything to cook/bake, tools to brush the snow off of our vehicle, sleds, and so much more. They plowed the road. They were so kind to give us Grandma's hot chocolate, marshmallows & candy canes for our children, &gave us some carrots and scarfs to make snowmen. The home was very clean, had heated toilets, & a sleep number bed. There were games to play and we loved them so much we ordered some to arrive at our home by the time we returned. I could go on but am running out of character space! We loved it so much we extended our stay 3 nights & reserved our next stay!

Perfect Cabin Retreat

This cabin had it all! Perfect location, incredibly clean & beautifully built. We loved our time here and look forward to coming back someday!

Excellent experience!

We loved our stay at the Woodpecker Barn! The area was lovely and charming, from woodpeckers to frequent deer visits. The apt is new, very clean and extraordinarily comfortable. We especially appreciated the comfortable beds and couches, available streaming and gorgeous view into the woods from the porch! You must come see the chandelier in the woods and the most interesting barn! Jennifer and John were excellent hosts and very responsive to questions about the apt or the area. Wonderful hiking nearby too! We hope to return in the winter when there is snow, but mid August was heavenly.

Great little cabin on a beautiful property.

You'll Love it!!! Took the family for yearly fishing trip and they fell in love with this beautiful property. Cabin is very spacious with a beautifully designed modern interior. Loved how peaceful the property felt especially around sunset when all the deer came to feed. This is our new go to spot.

 The Woodpecker barn is peaceful and yet so close to everything - it is an absolute gem!    Well appointed large kitchen to make your own breakfast. 

Absolutely amazing place and Jennifer and John are amazing! They really take pride in their home, from the littlest details and upgrades, to making sure we had all we needed, our stay was nothing short of amazing. Very quiet, cozy and serene. Well stocked kitchen, sleep number bed, even warmed toilet seats. Gorgeous place to stay. Don’t second guess staying here, it’s truly paradise with deer that frequent the property everyday. We will definitely be back. Hurry and book this place before someone else does!!

 If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay in the White Mountains, then look no further. Our party of 3 wanted to escape the desert heat and discovered this gem of an apartment just 3.5 hours from Tucson! The Woodpecker Barn IS a barn full of amazing stuff, but attached to it is a brand new apartment that clearly was a labor of love for its owners John and Jennifer. The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable and pleasant. Because it’s new, everything in it is also new and works! The kitchen is fully stocked and has loads of storage. The two large bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms that have all the essentials (not to mention the heated toilet seats!). My 96-year old mother appreciated the safety bars in the shower and the shower seat. The Cal-king beds are very comfortable. All the rooms have plenty of lights along with nice natural light. The heart of this apartment is the front porch, which is where we spent a lot of time reading, visiting, deer watching and snoozing. It rained a lot while we were here but the porch stayed nice and dry so we were able to watch the storms. The property is in the middle of a forest but perfectly located, equidistant from Show Low and Pinetop. There are lots of outdoor activities available and easy to access. John and Jennifer are so welcoming and fun! We enjoyed hearing about the history of the property and the building of the apartment! We definitely will return! Don’t pass this one up! 

 A diamond in the woods!

The entire stay was above and beyond our expectations. There is not enough room to mention all the positives. Great hosts, facility, beds, stocked kitchen, etc, etc.

Can't wait to go again.

The Woodpecker Barn is one of the best AirBnBs I have stayed in and hands down the best in the White Mountains. John and Jennifer are wonderful hosts who have created a very special home to share with their guests. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with serene surroundings and the comforts of home, you will find it here. They have thought about so many details that few think of to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Their pride of ownership is evident throughout their property, and they are very welcoming and friendly. Our only regret is not staying longer, but we will definitely return.

I believe it was a godsend that we found the Woodpecker Barn. We looked no further when we saw what they had to offer. Beautiful newly built with everything that you could possibly need for your stay. Jennifer & John are very nice and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again. 

10 out of 10!    The location was ideal for us-secluded but only a couple of miles from a main drag in Pinetop. The owners have converted a portion of a large barn to an apartment. The apartment was well layed-out and clean. The two bedrooms had king beds and were very nice. The apartment was extremely well furnished including heated toilet seats, extra towels, spices. Good WiFi and A/C and heat. The owners John and Jennifer were very nice and thoughtful. 

AMAZING It was the perfect location for our 1st annual company retreat. We wanted somewhere close to shops and restaurants but also feel secluded and peaceful. The hosts were very helpful and kind. The place was absolutely beyond our expectations and would book here again. We highly recommend this place. 

We have absolutely LOVED staying at your place.  Everything is immaculate and every need is anticipated!  Bar far one of the best places we’ve ever stayed!  Such a special weekend for us!! The Woodpecker Barn is an absolute must stay.  Perfectly situated between Pinetop and Show Low it is a true mountain haven.  Every inch of this place is immaculate and every amenity has been thought of.  The kitchen was fully stocked and absolutely beautiful.  The living and dining area was so comfy and so inviting.  The laundry/mud room was so functional and super cute.  The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms were luxuriously wonderful.  Everything was perfect! Our family of four was quite comfortable for our 3-night stay.  After long days of snowboarding up at Sunrise Ski Park we all breathed a sigh of relief as we came back to The Woodpecker Barn to rest and refuel each night.  You can tell the Jennifer and John have put their heart and soul into this place.  Our family didn’t want to leave!  Can’t wait to come back and stay at this gem! 

My husband and I stayed at The Woodpecker Barn for our honeymoon in January, and it was everything we hoped it would be and more! The owners are wonderful and have created a comfortable place to stay with everything you could imagine. Down to the little details, we lacked for nothing! Comfortable mattresses? Check. Heated toilet seats? Yep! Fully stocked kitchen, including a popcorn maker, ice cream scoop, pizza cutter, and homemade hot chocolate mix? You betcha! There is also a whole collection of books, DVDs, and board games and card games, so there are plenty of opportunities to spend quality time with your loved ones. Everything about our stay was so easy; there are directions to sign in to your accounts (like Netflix) if that is up your alley. There are also a bunch of fun places to visit close by, especially if you have kiddos! The price is unbeatable for the value you receive. We will definitely be returning to The Woodpecker Barn! It's truly the most comfortable and homey place we have ever stayed while travelling.

Very nice, new build. High end finishes that are well thought out. There are 2 bedrooms with adjoining baths that are equal in accommodation and size, which is rare for the area. There are cute, thoughtful details throughout the house. Truly an ideal setup for 2 couples or 2 traveling individuals. You could also watch deer walk through the property at sunset which was very peaceful. It’s very close to the main part of Show Low where most of the businesses are. Great value for your money.
